Jazz House is the product of an innovative partnership between Seattle JazzED and Community Roots Housing (CRH). JazzED, a music school dedicated to ensuring that quality jazz education is broadly available, is funding construction for 18,000 square feet of music education space. CRH is responsible for 5 stories of workforce housing on the building’s upper levels. By partnering, the organizations are able to share costs for land, design, and permitting and achieve more than either would be able to create on their own.
Merganser Project Management serves as the owner’s representative for Seattle JazzED. Principal Mike Weller collaborates with the CRH team on shared project elements, including budget, contracts, and the design of shared elements, while taking the lead on the project scope within JazzED’s suite. The project is scheduled to break ground in Spring 2022, with an opening targeted for Fall 2023.
